The Real Estate Regulation Act 2016 (RERA) has been brought in by the Central Government for the regulation and promotion of the real estate sector in India. The act establishes a Real Estate Regulatory Authority that ensures the sale of plot, apartment or building, real estate project in an efficient and transparent manner and protects the interests of consumers. The act provides for a speedy redressal of complaints at three levels - Adjudicating Officer, Real Estate Regulatory Authority, and Real Estate Appellate Tribunal.
